Experience
I was a peer tutor in high school, helping students with math and chemistry at a science and mathematics academy in Manhattan. Today I focus on algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and a range of elementary and middle school math subjects plus English, reading, and study skills. Once I graduated, I found work at a summer school as an assistant teacher for Harlem-based high school kids. Next I worked at a test prep center in the Bronx, for K-12 students, many of whom had challenges to learning. I tutored 5-9th graders as a contractor while completing my CUNY graduate studies. In San Diego, where I relocated to last year, I became familiar with the local schools, educational system, and curriculum by observing over ten different schools. I was an instructional assistant during the summer, working at a San Diego charter school, and tutored and graded students at the 7-12th grade levels. We worked one on one at times and in small group settings as well.My experience also includes tutoring kids with Autism Spectrum Disorder when I was a Residential Habilitation Specialist in New York. In my downtime, I enjoy fitness, strength training, hiking, camping, traveling, and going to the beach.
